The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO), Evansville Police Department (EPD), and Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch (EVCD) are proud to announce a joint recruitment initiative titled “One Community, Many Heroes.” This unified campaign seeks to attract dedicated, qualified individuals who are ready to serve their community in essential public safety roles.

Whether behind the radio, behind the badge, or behind the walls, these agencies are calling on community members to step forward and consider careers in public safety. Applicants are encouraged to visit manyheroes.org to explore opportunities to:

  • Join Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch as a 911 Dispatcher,
  • Become an Officer with the Evansville Police Department, or
  • Serve as a Deputy or Confinement Officer with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.

As part of this campaign, billboards have been placed throughout the community, proudly featuring Deputy Mike Brown (VCSO), Dispatcher Bobbi Cooksey (EVCD), and Officer Aaron Hadley (EPD), three real-life examples of the everyday heroes who serve Vanderburgh County with dedication and integrity.

VCSO Sheriff Noah Robinson, EPD Chief Philip Smith, and Evansville-Vanderburgh County Central Dispatch Director Carrie James have emphasized that this partnership is more than just recruitment; it’s about strengthening the bond between public servants and the community they serve.

“This is about teamwork, collaboration, and finding people who truly want to make a difference,” said Sheriff Robinson. “Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we’re stronger when we work together.”

The “One Community, Many Heroes” initiative serves as a testament to the power of partnership, with a shared goal of ensuring Vanderburgh County remains a safe, supportive, and thriving community in which to live and work.
