Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a local man Wednesday night following a reported theft in progress at a local salvage yard located in the 3700 block of N. St. Joseph Avenue.
At approximately 9:54 p.m. on August 12, 2026, deputies were dispatched to the business after an employee reported seeing an individual on the property loading items into a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and Paul Oldham, an employee of the business, on the property.
During the investigation, employees directed deputies to an area near Oldham’s work station. Deputies located nine catalytic converters staged on the ground outside a rear door of the business. An additional three catalytic converters were located in the bed of a nearby dump truck, approximately 10 feet from the area where Oldham had been located.
The location of the catalytic converters, combined with information provided to deputies during the investigation, led deputies to develop probable cause to arrest Oldham for theft.
Oldham was taken into custody and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
