In December of 2021, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into alleged missing funds at Burdette Park. Burdette Park officials contacted the Sheriff’s Office after a year-end accounting of the fees collected for the campground showed a discrepancy in the amount of money deposited and the amount of money that should have been collected.

Notice is hereby given that Executive Sessions of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Merit Board will be held on Monday, April, 17th, 2023 and Tuesday, April 18th, 2023. 

On April 14, 2023, deputies were dispatched at 3:25 AM to the area of US 41 and Baseline Rd in reference to a report of a two vehicle, head on collision, which occurred in the SB lanes of N US Hwy 41. Upon arriving, deputies found both vehicles had heavy front end damage.

On 04/13/23 at approximately 2050 hours Vanderburgh County deputies along with Perry Township Fire and Posey County EMS were sent to Broadway Ave near Nurrenburn Rd for an injury crash.  Deputies arrived and found this to be a single vehicle crash

A western Vanderburgh County man was killed yesterday after firing on sheriff’s deputies trying to arrest him.

Austin Ousley has been discharged from the hospital.  He was booked in the Vanderburgh County Jail earlier today on a warrant for murder.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has served an arrest warrant on Austin Ousley for the murder of Shawn Wildt and the attempted murder of his brother Chad Wildt.

On 03-20-2023, at approximately 12:26 PM, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the
United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve a felony warrant at a residence in
the 200 Block of East Missouri.
