July 12th Sobriety Checkpoint Results

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at E. Franklin Street and N. Heidelbach Avenue. The checkpoint ran from 11:30pm to 02:30am.

At 1:00am a blue 2002 Jeep Liberty drove past the checkpoint. The vehicle had a flattened front tire which was beginning to come apart. A deputy stopped the vehicle and found the driver, Ms. Melissa R. Forzley, to be intoxicated.

At 1:29am a white Chevrolet pickup truck approached the checkpoint. The vehicle ignored a deputy’s instructions to enter the checkpoint and accelerated around him. Another deputy stopped the vehicle at S. Governor Street and E. Walnut Street and found the driver, Mr. Christopher W. Caton, to be intoxicated.

One motorist entered the checkpoint with an Open Container and was cited and released. A total of six (6) custodial arrests were made as a result of the checkpoint.

Melissa R. Forzley (pictured above), 28 of Poseyville. OMVWI as a Class A Misdemeanor (.16 BrAC), Possession of a Schedule III Drug as a Class A Misdemeanor

Christopher W. Caton (pictured above), 25 of Henderson. OMVWI as a Class A Misdemeanor (.15 BrAC)

Selina B. Appel, 38, of Evansville. Writ of Attachment

Quintette D. Quarels, 41, of Evansville. Failure to Appear (3 counts)

Mark L. Brown, 50, of Evansville. Writ of Attachment

Jefferson M. Hewell, 24, of Evansville. Failure to Appear (4 counts)
