SUBJECT: Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

On Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 9:29pm, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and German Township Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of New Harmony Road and Koressel Road. During the investigation deputies learned that the collision involved a single vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup. The vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and flipped multiple times before coming to rest on the roof of the vehicle.
The driver, Ronald W. Bobak, 50 years of age, was ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Bobak was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, Maria C. Stevens, was transported to Deaconess Hospital by AMR. Ms. Stevens appeared to have non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol did appear to be a contributing factor to this collision.
