On Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:32am, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash on State Road 65 (Big Cynthiana Road) near the intersection of Orchard Road. Deputies found a beige Kia Sorrento upside down and resting against a house located at 9637 Big Cynthiana Road.

No one was inside the home at the time of the crash and the driver, Mr. Mark Abell, was uninjured. Mr. Abell explained that he had been northbound on Big Cynthiana when he ran off the right side of the roadway and lost control.

The vehicle struck a utility pole before rolling over and coming to rest against the south side of the residence. Mr. Abell displayed signs of intoxication and was transported to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center where testing revealed his breath alcohol concentration to be .18% (.08% is the legal limit).

Arrested:

Mark Taylor Abell (pictured above), 21, of Evansville. Operating a Vehicle with BAC Greater than .15% as a Class A Misdemeanor, Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated as a Class A Misdemeanor
