SUBJECT: Convicted Felon Arrested for Threatening Couple with a Shotgun
RELEASE NUMBER: 2016-NR-051
CONTACT: Lt. Noah Robinson
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Dave Wedding

On Sunday, July 03, 2016 at 2:40am the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Gary Drive in Pleasant Ridge Mobile Home Park in reference to a reported person with a gun.

One of the victims would later explain to deputies that he had just dropped his girlfriend off at her home when a male suspect approached them, pointed a shotgun directly at them and asked, “Do you want to die tonight”. The suspect reportedly went on to claim that “ISIS” was attempting to break into his trailer.

Prior to sheriff’s deputies arriving in the area, the suspect reportedly left the scene. Arriving deputies were able to locate the suspect walking on Pleasant Ridge Drive and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as Nigel Tyrone Daniels.

Another victim, who lives on Chapel Court, also reported being threatened by Mr. Daniels. All three victims positively indentified Mr. Daniels as the suspect.

A search warrant was obtained for Mr. Daniels residence at 4909 Fawn Lake Drive. A variety of rifles and a handgun were seized along with ammunition. All of the weapons were fully loaded. One of the firearms was reported stolen out of Henderson, Kentucky. Additional firearms (including a shotgun) were later recovered on Ashley Drive after a homeowner discovered them lying next to her trailer.

Mr. Daniels has a prior 2006 conviction for felony Domestic Battery, which makes him ineligible to legally possess a firearm.

ARRESTED:

Nigel Tyrone Daniels, 41, of Evansville. Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon as a Level 5 Felony (2 counts), Intimidation as a Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon as a Level 4 Felony, Receiving Stolen Firearm as a Level 6 Felony, Pointing a Loaded Weapon as a Level 6 Felony.
