On Monday, August 22, 2016 at approximately 5:04am the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Scott Township Fire Department responded to the intersection of US Highway 41 and Old State Road upon report of crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival deputies found a motorcycle lying in the roadway fully engulfed in flames.

On scene investigation indicated that a black 1999 Toyota pick-up driven by Mr. Jeffrey Graper had been traveling east on Old State Road before entering the intersection at US 41 in order to travel north. Mr. Graper’s Toyota was then struck by a southbound 2004 Buel motorcycle operated by Mr. Dale Dever.

Mr. Dever was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained severe injuries. The motorcycle caught fire and was completely destroyed. Mr. Dever was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Pursuant to state law regarding crashes involving serious bodily injury or death, Mr. Graper consented to a post-accident blood draw. The investigation will remain open pending toxicology results.

Dale Alan Dever, 52, of Owensville.
