On Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at approximately 5:00am the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of W. Boonville New Harmony Road and Gilles Lane upon report of a pedestrian struck by a pick-up truck.

On scene investigation and statements taken from the driver indicated that a maroon Ford F150 pick-up truck had been traveling east on W. Boonville New Harmony Road before striking a pedestrian. The driver reported that he had looked down prior to the collision after dropping a can of tobacco. The pedestrian was jogging west on W. Boonville New Harmony Road prior to the collision. Coleman Matthew Sheridan, 22, of Evansville.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this release incorrectly stated that the driver reported that he “retrieved a can of tobacco from the floor of the truck prior to the collision”. The driver actually reported that he looked down after dropping the tobacco can.
