The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office investigated a school bus accident this morning that resulted in three students sustaining injuries.
On Monday, September 24, 2018 at 7:15 AM the Sheriff’s Office and Scott Township Fire Department responded to the 12000 block of St. Wendel Road north of Emge Road upon report of an EVSC school bus that had left the roadway resulting in injuries. The bus had been southbound and entered a ditch while negotiating a curve. The bus sustained minor damage after making contact with an embankment. The bus was able to re-enter the roadway and safely come to a stop.
The bus was occupied by 13 children at the time of the accident. One child was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a leg laceration. Two children suffered bloody noses and one child complained of shoulder pain. The remaining children were transported to Cynthia Heights Elementary after being checking by paramedics.
Pursuant to EVSC policy, the driver of the bus reported for post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Neither is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
