Sheriff’s Office Holds Recognition Ceremony
On Friday, January 5, 2024, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson welcomed guests at the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse for an awards ceremony. Family, friends, colleagues, and other guests attended to recognize a number of employees. The ceremony featured two newly appointed deputy sheriffs sworn in by Vanderburgh Clerk of the Circuit Court Carla Hayden. Additionally, members of the office were recognized for completion of probationary status, life-saving actions and the performance of extraordinary tasks while on duty. Sherif Robinson was quoted as saying “the culture that we foster at the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is that their work is valued.”
Trespasser Arrested after Failed Attempt to Deliver Narcotics into Jail
In the spirit of the season, the Sheriff’s Office has recently joked about “Clem the Elf” and “The Grinch” visiting the Jail. The presents a real-life trespasser at the Jail were trying to deliver were certainly not anything Santa would leave in your stocking.

Inmate Dies at Hospital after Fight at Jail
On Friday, December 15, 2023 at approximately 7:00 PM confinement officers at the Vanderburgh County Jail responded to a fight occurring in the “B1” housing unit. Two inmates fought for about 90 seconds while repeatedly resisting responding officer’s attempts to separate them.
Phone Scammer Fails to Fool Two Savvy Victims
Both victims reported that their caller ID displayed the number “812-421-6201”, which is the main line of the Sheriffs Office. A couple of decades ago, carrying out caller ID spoofing required specialized knowledge and equipment that could be quite expensive. Now, open source software and modern VoIP phone technology allows those with limited technical knowledge to spoof calls with minimal cost and effort.
Deputies pursue stolen vehicle
Deputies received information of a stolen vehicle north bound on Hwy 41 near Washington Ave. When the vehicle was located the driver immediately fled west bound on Washington Ave with deputies and an Indiana State trooper in pursuit. The suspect went south on Evans Ave, pulled over and fled the vehicle on foot.
Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting in Northeastern Vanderburgh County
On Monday, November 27, 2023, at 8:17 PM, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Scott Township Fire & EMS responded to the 1300 block of Skipping Stone Drive in Stonegate Estates, located in Northeastern Vanderburgh County. A homeowner had called 911 reporting he had shot a male trespasser in front of his house.

Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest in Westside ATM Break-in
At 4:54 AM on August 24, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office responded to Heritage Federal Credit Union at 5343 Pearl Drive for a hold-up alarm. Upon arrival, deputies found an abandoned Ford pick-up truck that had been used to pull the credit union’s ATM off the pedestal. The ATM had been broken into and the money removed. The truck was later found to have been stolen from Henderson, KY.
