RELEASE NUMBER: 2025-NR-0430
CONTACT: Sheriff Noah Robinson
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson
On the evening of Wednessday, April 30, 2025, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash.
At approximately 6:03 p.m., a deputy on patrol observed a red pickup truck traveling westbound on I-69 abruptly cross the grass median to begin driving eastbound. The deputy followed the vehicle as it exited onto Green River Road. When emergency lights were activated in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed in an apparent effort to flee.
The pursuit continued southbound on Green River Road and eastbound on Old Green River Road before the suspect lost control of the vehicle near Sandpit Road. The truck left the roadway, caused damage to a field, and collided with a tree. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Christopher Anglin, was taken into custody without further incident.
Anglin made an unsolicited statement that he “shouldn’t have been driving.” A records check revealed that Anglin’s driving privileges were suspended due to an infraction and that he had an active warrant for a parole violation.
On-scene investigation and field sobriety tests indicated signs of impairment. Anglin admitted to daily marijuana use, including earlier that day, and acknowledged using methamphetamine approximately one week prior. He refused to submit to a chemical test after being read the Indiana Implied Consent Warning.
A search of the vehicle was conducted prior to towing. Deputies located a bag containing a white crystal substance in plain view on the floorboard, along with a digital scale. The substance produced a field weight of nearly 3 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine.
Anglin was transported to a local hospital emergency room for medical clearance before being lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
