Writ Round-Up Aims to Ensure Children Get the Support They Deserve

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office and the Evansville Police Department, conducted a Child Support Writ Round-Up on Friday, June 13, 2025. The goal of the operation was to arrest individuals who have failed to comply with court-ordered child support and currently have active writs of attachment.

“I am thankful for the collaboration with the Sheriff’s Office and the Clerk’s Office on this very important endeavor: to quickly identify and hold accountable those who are behind on their child support obligations,” said Prosecutor Diana Moers. “It is my hope that those who owe support to their children will come forward voluntarily to my office to begin making payments. But if not, I’m proud to have our Sheriff assist in ensuring accountability.”

The operation took place today beginning at 8:00 AM and concluded at 4:45 PM. This enforcement action is part of the ongoing Child Support Compliance Program, which was launched to improve accountability and ensure children in Vanderburgh County receive the financial support ordered by the courts. Under the program, individuals issued child support writs are given a 45-day opportunity to voluntarily comply before having their named placed on a publicly viewable list of active writs.

Child Support Writs by the Numbers:

  • Active Child Support Writs: 144 (as of June 04, 2025)
  • Voluntary Compliances Prior to Round-Up: 63 (recalled by clerk as of June 04, 2025)
  • Child Support Writ Service Attempts from Today: 47
  • Child Support Arrests from Today: 10

Process improvements from the Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office now allow law enforcement to more easily identify child support writs, enabling faster coordination between agencies and more efficient enforcement.

“Our goal is to ensure that children receive the financial support they are entitled to,” said Sheriff Noah Robinson. “This roundup reflects our commitment to holding individuals accountable when they ignore court-ordered obligations. If your circumstances have changed, the responsible thing to do is contact the court and request a hearing. Simply ignoring a court order is not an option. Our children deserve better.”

Individuals with unresolved child support writs are strongly encouraged to act now to avoid arrest. A full list of active writs is publicly available at: www.vanderburghsheriff.org/warrant-search/#writ
