DATE: Thursday, April 02, 2015
SUBJECT: Arrest Made in Fatal University Parkway Crash
RELEASE NUMBER: 2015-NR-024
CONTACT: Lt. Noah Robinson
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Dave Wedding

On Thursday, April 02, 2015 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mr. Michael Gann on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death as a Level 4 Felony.

Mr. Gann surrendered himself at the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center at approximately 9:00am this morning. Mr. Gann was processed into the facility and then released to electronic home monitoring in lieu of $25,000 cash bond.

The arrest stems from a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2015, on University Parkway involving a black 2007 Hyundai Tiburon and a maroon 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Mr. Gann. An investigation determined that Mr. Gann had been traveling the wrong way in the oncoming lane before the crash occurred. That crash killed 15-year-old Logan Brown and seriously injured three others (including Mr. Gann).

Mr. Gann had been involved in a hit and run crash near Hogue Road and Tekoppel Avenue just minutes before the fatal crash on University Parkway. Preliminary laboratory testing of Mr. Gann’s blood revealed he had an alcohol concentration of .325 (the prima facie limit for intoxication is .08).

ARRESTED:

Michael Neil Gann, 38, of Evansville. Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated Causing Death as a Level 4 Felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated Causing Serious Bodily Injury as a Level 6 Felony (2 counts), Hit and Run as a Class B Misdemeanor
