The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up traffic enforcement around area schools and bus routes to help make sure this school year gets off to a safe start.
Sobriety Checkpoint Results for August 4, 2023
The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, August 4, 2023 near the intersection of N. St. Joseph Av near Buchanan Rd. Law enforcement officers from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Indiana State Excise Police conducted the checkpoint as a part of a statewide enforcement effort designed to detect and deter impaired driving.
Infant from Abuse and Neglect Arrest Removed from Life Support
The five month-old victim of abuse and neglect reported by the Sheriff’s Office on Monday, July 31 has died. The infant had been on life-support since being transported to an Indianapolis children’s hospital the day after his parents reported that he had stopped breathing.

Phone Scam ALERT!
Phone scammers are at it again. The Sheriff’s Office has received several reports that potential victims are receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputy informing them that they have a warrant for their arrest for missing a court appearance.
Domestic Violence & Arson Arrest
On 6/30/2023 at approximately 4:45am, Vanderburgh County Deputies were dispatched to 3415 Old Henderson Rd. in reference to a domestic battery and possible arson.
